Fun fact: the RV Atlantis (which the shuttle was named after) was the first ship specifically built for oceanographic research, and was used for many years by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute:
It is the only one of the shuttle namesakes that is still afloat today (in service with Argentina) , albeit with extensive cabin renovations :
(note: Columbia, Challenger, and Endeavour all shared their names with Apollo capsules, but it’s clear that shuttle names were vessels of exploration, rather than being named after Apollo capsules)
Woods Hole has a considerably more impressive Atlantis these days:

That’s a cool bit of history. I think the shuttle fleet had pretty good names all around.
